1. What does it take to be a model?
Most importantly, you must be photogenic. We determine upon receiving your photos whether you have a look our clients will like.
2. What ages do you represent?
We represent newborns to seniors. However, most of our models are in the 16 to 35-year old range.
3. Do you need modeling experience?
No experience is needed. Again, the main qualification (aside from height and size requirements) is that you are photogenic. Of course we routinely take on working models as well.
4. Do I need to send in a professional photo?
It's not necessary or even advisable to have professional pictures taken. Current snapshots are fine to begin with. If you are called in for an interview, we will at the time advise you as to what course to take with regards to obtaining professional pictures for a portfolio.
5. What are you looking for in terms of submission photographs?
The best photos are the ones that show you as naturally as possible (no make-up). A head shot and a full-length shot (no nudity) will give us a clear indication of whether you possess a look our clients might be interested in. Color shots are best, and can be taken by a friend in any casual setting. Generally, the two photos are enough.
6. Does Axis take professional photographs?
As agents, we do not take portfolio photographs. We can recommend a number of professional photographers to test with and get good headshots.
7. Can I e-mail photos or a submission to you?
Yes, email:info@axismodels.com
8. When I send photos, can I get them back?
Due to the volume of submissions, returning photos is not possible; please submit only non-returnable photos.
9. How long does it take after sending photos to get called for an interview?
This can vary depending on the current needs of the agency at the time you submit. For instance, if we are currently representing 5- to 7-year-old boys and your child is in this group, we can put him on file and call when we feel we need to add more boys in this category. It is hard to predict exactly how long this time period would be.
10. Will I need a portfolio or composite card?
Yes. This is probably the most important marketing tool to a model.
11. Do you charge an initial fee?
Definitely not. All reputable agents work on commission and are paid only when a model is paid. Any costs that may arise are for business and marketing expenses.
12. Does Axis provide any classes?
We are not a school and do not offer any classes. We can counsel newcomers as to what they can do to improve their opportunities for work and do not charge for that.
13. Is Axis licensed or bonded?
We are both licensed and bonded in the state of New Jersey.
14. What type of jobs/clients do you usually book?
We routinely book all types of print media (catalog, advertising, trade), fashion runway shows, informal modeling, trade shows, industrials, commercials and voice-overs. Our clients are mainly regional, national and multi-national companies.
15. Do you have open calls?
Very rarely. For the most part, submissions are done by email or regular mail-in only.
